CLINICAL PRACTISE GUIDELINES FOR PATIENTS UNDER HEMODIALYSIS REQUIRING DENTAL CARE
Main Article Content
Abstract
Hemodialysis patients are vulnerable and have special healthcare needs. ESRD patients can survive by removing waste and excess fluids from their blood with hemolysis. Kidney disease affects dental care and other healthcare areas due to its systemic nature. The provision of dental care is a crucial element in maintaining optimal health and overall wellness. However, individuals undergoing hemodialysis encounter distinct obstacles when attempting to access dental treatment. The aforementioned challenges arise as a result of the interaction between renal dysfunction and oral health, thereby requiring the development of customised clinical practise guidelines. These challenges arise from renal dysfunction and oral health, requiring tailored clinical practise guidelines.
Haemodialysis patients' dental care clinical practise guidelines are discussed in this article. It emphasises the importance of evidence-based protocols using the latest nephrology and dentistry research and authoritative sources. The guidelines outline best practises for mitigating dental and systemic complications like periodontal disease, xerostomia, and infection risk in these patients while providing optimal dental care. To provide holistic, patient-centred care, nephrologists and dentists must work together. Clinical practise guidelines for dental care in hemodialysis patients are needed to improve oral health, quality of life, and comorbidities associated with poor dental hygiene. These guidelines aim to bridge the gap between nephrology and dentistry by addressing ESRD-specific challenges and improving health outcomes for a growing population of hemodialysis patients.
